CEAG Mega-Market: Gabon fights the high cost of living!
s tarting at 8:00 AM, a "mega-market" at the Angondjé Stadium esplanade in Akanda, to officially integrate its products into the daily lives of consumers.
This commercial and strategic event aims to lower the prices of essential goods in Greater Libreville by offering dry goods (rice, oil, tomato paste), fresh products (chicken, onions), and cleaning supplies at competitive rates.
Major Economic Stakes Established in August 2025 and operational since April 2026, the CEAG—owned 37% by the State and 63% by national operators—secures the supply chain and regulates markets in the face of global inflation. It could enable savings of 30% to 50% on goods such as medicines or fertilizers, thereby protecting household purchasing power.
Strategic and Local Impact This pop-up market, the first test with a single partner, will be followed by distributions across 47 points of sale accessible via QR codes. The initiative is set to expand to Owendo, Bikélé, and the country's interior. It strengthens food sovereignty, boosts local employment in logistics, and is a key part of the government's fight against the high cost of living.
