Code of Ethics
Gabon Daily News is an independent press company, part of a media group, founded by a businessman, and whose Editorial Director or Editor-in-Chief is a professionally trained journalist.
The mission of this online media outlet is to serve the right to know and the freedom of expression, with a commitment to factual truth and the pluralism of opinions.
Since information is its core business, the values that inspire this Code of Ethics—intended for journalists—bind all those involved in its activities, including employees and management. The same applies to the three reference texts it endorses and includes as annexes (Charter of Professional Duties (1918); Munich Charter (1971); Call of the Hill (2008); Global Charter of Ethics for Journalists (2019)).
Gabon Daily News also aims to promote journalism that serves the public interest, upholding humanistic, democratic, and social values, in the service of the common good, equality of rights, rejection of discrimination, and refusal of injustice.
As an economically independent media outlet, Gabon Daily News derives its main income from the sale of advertising space. The outlet currently receives no public subsidies and is not supported by any private patron. Its founder is committed to ensuring the complete independence of its editorial team. He refrains from interfering in editorial choices or news coverage. The Management and Editorial team of Gabon Daily News are committed to protecting journalists from any pressure exerted by economic partners, public authorities, organizations, political parties or groups, unions, or religious communities.
