President Oligui on Official Visit to Guinea
Strengthening of bilateral relations between Gabon and Guinea within the framework of developing a South-South partnership in the political, economic, social, and military sectors.
H is Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, President of the Republic and Head of the Gabonese State, began an official visit to the Republic of Guinea this Monday. This visit marks a crucial step in strengthening bilateral relations between Gabon and Guinea, two countries in West and Central Africa committed to a dynamic of accelerated regional development.
Accompanied by his principal advisors, President Oligui Nguema was welcomed in Conakry by His Excellency Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea. This high-level meeting illustrates the common desire of the two heads of state to consolidate economic and political cooperation.
The highlight of the visit is the joint participation of the two presidents in the official launch of the Simandou integrated mines-infrastructure mega-project. Located in the Simandou region of Guinea, this project is recognized as one of the most important in Africa for the exploitation of major iron ore reserves. It encompasses not only mining extraction but also the construction of heavy infrastructure—roads, railways, ports—essential for the efficient transportation of natural resources to international markets.
This project, of exceptional scale, represents a strategic leverage point for the socio-economic development of the region. Thanks to close collaboration between the Gabonese and Guinean States, as well as the private and public partners involved, Simandou is set to become an engine of sustainable growth, generating jobs, improving local infrastructure, and positioning Guinea as a key player in the global mineral value chain.
The visit by His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema also affirms the pivotal role of African heads of state in leading major projects that promote regional economic integration. By combining their efforts, Gabon and Guinea are demonstrating their ambition to further integrate the African continent into world markets, while valuing its natural resources from a perspective of inclusive development.
In conclusion, this official visit is not limited to a simple diplomatic exchange; it symbolizes a solid commitment toward a win-win partnership focused on Guinea’s industrial and infrastructural development, with the active support of Gabon. The Simandou project thus illustrates the new African dynamic, led by visionary leaders, eager to ensure a prosperous future for their people and for the continent as a whole.
