T he Gabonese government, through the National Real Estate Company (SNI), officially launched on April 1, 2026, in Essassa (Ntoum), a large-scale operation to put residential plots up for sale.
a large-scale operation to put residential plots up for sale. Presided over by the Vice President of the Government, Hermann Immongault, alongside the Minister of Housing, Mays Mouissi, this initiative aims to address the growing pressure on land availability in several major cities across the country.
Designed as a social inclusion measure, the operation is based on regulated pricing to make the plots accessible to as many people as possible. In Essassa, the pilot site of this first phase, the price has been set at 5,500 FCFA per square meter, amounting to 2,750,000 FCFA for a standard 500 m² plot. The authorities aim to remove one of the main barriers to homeownership: the cost of land.
In total, 2,500 plots are being offered in various urban areas, particularly in Greater Libreville, but also in Port-Gentil, Franceville, and Moanda. One of the key strengths of this operation lies in the systematic issuance of a land title to every buyer—an essential guarantee to secure transactions. Through this program, the State demonstrates its commitment to better regulating the market and promoting fairer access to property ownership.
