School Scholarship: Payment Begins
Students are finally receiving their allowances, despite long queues
" Students waited for long hours in front of the counters, motivated by the idea of receiving the fruit of their academic efforts."
The disbursement of school scholarships began yesterday, in accordance with the official announcements made during the National Teacher's Day celebration. In Libreville, Owendo, and Akanda, students turned out in large numbers at the Treasury payment centers to collect their allowances for the 2025-2026 school year. From the early hours of the morning, the turnout was remarkable, reflecting the anticipation and enthusiasm generated by this measure.
On-site, the joy of the beneficiaries was palpable, especially among those discovering the system for the first time. Guided by a schedule established by the authorities, students were directed to different sites based on their schools. Sometimes accompanied by their parents, they waited for long hours at the windows, motivated by the thought of receiving the reward for their academic efforts. Eligibility criteria, based on academic performance, were strictly followed.
Despite the general relief, some organizational difficulties were noted. Long queues and a lack of seating tested the patience of students and parents alike. Some waited several hours before receiving their scholarship, but all expressed their satisfaction at obtaining this financial support, which helps lighten the burden of school fees and transportation costs. The payment of scholarships continues in other municipalities according to the schedule released by the authorities.
