Libreville, March 23, 2026 – Following the appointment of Aurélien Mintsa Mi-Nguéma as Gabon’s Ambassador to India, a strategic realignment is underway within the Democratic Union of Builders (UDB). At the center of attention: the now-vacant position of General Treasurer, which is sparking discreet competition among several party cadres ahead of an extraordinary congress called to renew the executive board and reorganize political structures.
Several profiles are emerging in this internal race, blending institutional experience with political roots. Among them, Justine Judith Lekogho, Eric Boumah, and Yannick Mefane stand out as credible candidates given their current responsibilities. Alongside them, figures such as Benoît Assoumou Ondo, Pepecy Ogoulinguende, Nadine Ogoula (spouse Obiang), and Patrick Eyogho Edzang reflect the diversity of ambitions within the presidential party.
The list of contenders further expands to officials such as Jean Christophe Owono Nguema, Joseph Ibouili Maganga, Emmanuel Berre, Anicet Engo Lingombet, Fabrice Lendjoungou, Sylene Bindang Ondzigui (spouse Mintogo), Dieudonné Lewalouho Obissa, and Ultry Okenkaly. While negotiations remain behind closed doors, the stakes are high: appointing the individual who will manage the party's finances in a shifting political landscape. The upcoming congress is expected to settle these ambitions, although last-minute adjustments cannot be ruled out.
