Gabon–EU Cooperation: Training Workshop on Data Collection
As part of the DEMGAB project, the Ministry of Reform is launching a strategic workshop to equip its executives with data management skills—an essential pillar for consolidating peace and modernizing the State in Central Africa.
T he Ministry of Reform and Relations with Institutions has launched in Libreville a four‑week workshop dedicated to developing data collection tools. Supported by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, this training aims to strengthen the capacities of public officials and improve administrative governance.
On Wednesday, March 11 in Libreville, the Minister of Reform and Relations with Institutions, François Ndong Obiang, officially launched a capacity‑building workshop focused on data collection tools. Over the course of four weeks, around forty ministry officials will be trained by the NGO GABtrotter to design and master effective instruments for gathering, analyzing, and utilizing information essential to public decision‑making.
This initiative is part of the DEMGAB project, implemented by International IDEA with financial support from the European Union. The objective is to accompany the institutional reforms underway in Gabon while helping to prevent electoral violence through better data management and increased availability of information.
The workshop follows on from an initial session held in November 2025 on Results‑Based Management (RBM). After being trained to define measurable objectives, public officials are now learning to collect and use the data required to assess the effectiveness of public policies. This approach reflects the Gabonese authorities’ commitment to modernizing the administration and aligning public management with international standards of transparency and performance.
