Showdown at the PDG summit: Ali Bongo launches judicial warfare.
Formal notice, heavy accusations, and a 15‑day ultimatum.
F rom Paris, Ali Bongo Ondimba launches a legal offensive against senior figures of the Gabonese Democratic Party (PDG). In a formal notice delivered by bailiff, the former president accuses several officials of usurpation of office and political betrayal. He grants them fifteen days to leave the party leadership, failing which the courts will be seized.
“On February 20, 2026, from Paris, Ali Bongo Ondimba officially issued a formal notice ahead of judicial proceedings. The act, served on February 27 at the PDG headquarters in Libreville, specifically targets Blaise Louembé, Angélique Ngoma, as well as all members of the party’s contested executive board. The document takes the form of a genuine indictment. The former head of state denounces what he calls a ‘so‑called executive board’ and challenges the legitimacy of its current leaders.
The grievances raised are particularly serious: usurpation of office, deliberate electoral sabotage, and submission to the ruling military regime. These accusations reflect a complete rupture between Ali Bongo and part of the PDG leadership, a political formation he long embodied at the summit of the State.
Ali Bongo grants the targeted leaders a strict fifteen‑day deadline to voluntarily step down from the party’s leadership. Otherwise, judicial proceedings will be initiated. This deadline marks a turning point: the internal crisis now leaves the political arena to move onto the judicial field.
Founded in 1968, the Gabonese Democratic Party remains the country’s oldest political party and one of the major symbols of national political life. This new episode reveals a deep fracture over questions of leadership, legitimacy, and the party’s strategic direction within the current political context.
What had until now been perceived merely as an internal rivalry has now turned into an open confrontation. Beyond individuals, it is the future, unity, and very soul of the PDG that are at stake in this unprecedented legal battle.
