Port-Gentil: Elected Officials Commit to Climate Change Adaptation
Better understanding the daily climate challenges faced by the population
A training session focused on the co-construction of an inclusive local roadmap to strengthen the resilience of populations, particularly in vulnerable coastal areas.
Port-Gentil, December 11, 2025 – Mr. Erick Ayang Nang, Mayor of the 4th district of Port-Gentil, and his deputies actively participated in a provincial awareness training organized within the framework of the National Climate Change Adaptation Plan (NAP-II). The event, held in the multipurpose room of the Governorate, brought together a wide panel of stakeholders: the Provincial Secretary-General (representing the Governor), the Municipal Mayors, representatives from the private sector, NGOs, local communities, the Ministry of Environment, the UNDP, and civil society.
The program included: a training session focused on the co-construction of an inclusive local roadmap to strengthen the resilience of populations, particularly in vulnerable coastal areas. Objectives included raising awareness about global and local climate issues, gathering field experiences, identifying priority sites, and validating a strategy adapted to the realities of Port-Gentil.
On the sidelines of the work, the delegation visited the site of the displaced persons of Matanda Lip to better understand the daily climate challenges faced by the population.
