UNICEF and Airtel Gabon Train Teachers for Children's Safe Online Navigation
Educators are equipped to guide students in the safe use of the internet
L ibreville, December 14, 2025 – Protecting children from the dangers of the internet is becoming a priority in Gabon. As part of the primary education digitalization program, UNICEF Gabon, in partnership with Airtel Gabon, is supporting the Ministry of National Education, responsible for Civic Training.
This innovative project focuses on training teachers, equipping them to guide students in the safe use of the internet. The objective? To allow every child to navigate online safely, with the active support of schools, parents, and local communities.
"The internet is an extraordinary opportunity for education, but it comes with risks. Training teachers means training the first line of defense for our children," emphasizes a UNICEF representative. Practical workshops are already underway in several primary schools, covering topics such as recognizing dangerous content, protecting personal data, and good digital practices.
This public-private partnership strengthens the digitalization of education in Gabon, aligning technological innovation with civic education. Authorities hope to expand the program across the entire territory for a lasting national impact.
