Fortescue Group received at the seaside
The development of heavy infrastructure and the promotion of renewable energy.
T he President of the Republic, Head of State and Government, His Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, granted an audience to a high-level delegation from the Fortescue Group, led by its Founder and Executive Chairman, Dr. Andrew Forrest.
Dr. Forrest presented Fortescue's global expertise in the development of heavy infrastructure and the promotion of renewable energy. Present in Gabon through Iron Ivindo on the strategic Belinga iron ore project, the group proposes an integrated approach combining mining operations, the construction of an efficient railway network, port development, and clean energy production.
This commitment underscores an ambitious economic vision, perfectly in line with the transformation strategy driven by the Head of State. The audience concluded with an agreement in principle concerning the construction of the deep-water port of Kobe-Kobe, a major project intended to strengthen logistics competitiveness and support Gabon's economic diversification.
The port of Kobe-Kobe, a key infrastructure, is expected to generate approximately 160,000 direct and indirect jobs. Its commissioning is scheduled for 2030, with close coordination between Fortescue and the Gabonese Government to ensure the technical, environmental, and social success of the project.
