The Méridien Ré-Ndama Comes Under the Control of the Lancaster Company
A Mixed-Economy Company with Shared Capital Between the Gabonese State and Private Partners to Renovate, Rehabilitate, Modernize, and Operate the Ré-Ndama.
D uring the Council of Ministers meeting on December 4, 2025, the Gabonese government adopted a major draft law concerning the creation, duties, and organization of the Société Lancaster Ré-Ndama. This initiative is part of the presidential strategy aimed at positioning Gabon as a tourist destination of excellence, while attracting structuring investments to modernize its hotel infrastructure.
The Société Lancaster Ré-Ndama will be a mixed-economy company with capital shared between the Gabonese State and private partners, under the technical supervision of the Ministry of Tourism. Its main mission will be the acquisition and management of the land under land title no. 119 in Libreville, the domain currently occupied by the Ré-Ndama hotel. Covering an area of over 1.9 hectares, this strategic site will benefit from an ambitious program of renovation, rehabilitation, and modernization, in order to elevate the establishment to an international standard under the "Lancaster" brand.
Beyond just hotel management, the company will be responsible for the promotion, enhancement, and development of this tourist asset, including the diversification of ancillary activities to maximize economic and tourism benefits. Governance will be ensured by a Board of Directors and a General Manager, with statutes approved by presidential decree, guaranteeing transparency and efficiency.
Lancaster Ré-Ndama will be governed by rigorous public accounting standards coupled with the OHADA accounting framework, thus ensuring strict financial management compliant with the best sub-regional and international practices.
This draft law reflects a firm commitment to accelerate the transformation of the Gabonese tourism sector through modern infrastructure, professional management, and a structuring public-private partnership, thereby positioning Gabon on the world map of high-end tourism.
