CONSTRUCTION OF A HILTON HOTEL AT BAIE DES ROIS
Baie des Rois in Libreville : The imminent arrival of a Hilton, a symbol of strengthened hotel momentum in Gabon
T he Gabonese capital, Libreville, is preparing to welcome the very first establishment of the American brand Hilton as part of an ambitious hotel complex at Baie des Rois (Kings Bay). The model of the future establishment, visible on the construction site, confirms the upcoming installation of this global hospitality giant, a major stopover for the Gabonese sector.
The crucial framework agreement for the realization of this project was signed in August 2023, bringing together Kasada, the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS), and the Waterfront of the Triumphal Field (Façade maritime du champ triomphal, FMCT). This public-private partnership aims to erect a high-end hotel complex, emblematic of a strategy for capital valorization and a global vision for sustainable infrastructure.
The introduction of the Hilton brand promises a profound transformation. Drawing on its international practices, the group will implement advanced training and professionalization programs for its teams. The expected impact is a significant revitalization of local employment and a notable strengthening of the competitiveness of the Gabonese hotel sector. Ranked as the third-largest hotel group globally, Hilton boasts a network of over 7,200 establishments spread across 124 countries, bringing together prestigious brands such as Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Hotels, DoubleTree, and Hampton Inn.
The arrival of a Hilton could intensify hotel competition while encouraging existing players to raise their quality standards, thus energizing the entire market.
The FMCT management team insists on the strategic scope of this partnership: "The collaboration with this internationally renowned Group concretely illustrates the investment opportunities offered by Baie des Rois, which will contribute to the economic influence and tourist development of Libreville."
Ultimately, Libreville affirms its desire to emerge as an essential business and leisure destination in Central Africa. The future Baie des Rois complex will meet the growing expectations in urban planning and tourism, offering an innovative and local experience to visitors. This architectural project, exemplary from an environmental perspective, is fully aligned with Gabon's commitments against climate change, while attracting leading international investors and participating in the ambitious transformation of the national hotel sector.
