Tribute to the Late Dr. Marcel Eloi RAHANDI CHAMBRIER
President Oligui Nguema honors Dr. Rahandi Chambrier, the first Gabonese pediatrician, by unveiling a stele to salute his major role in medicine and politics.
H is Excellency Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema paid a solemn tribute to Dr. Marcel Eloi Rahandi Chambrier, the first Gabonese physician specialized in pediatrics. An essential figure in Gabonese medicine and politics, he marked his era through his commitment and dedication to the health of children in Gabon.
In the presence of local authorities and members of the medical community, the President unveiled a commemorative stele at the Awendje roundabout, a site now named in his honor. This initiative highlights the desire to preserve the national heritage by recognizing individuals who have contributed significantly to the country's development.
The unveiled plaque recalls the exemplary career of Dr. Rahandi Chambrier (1933 – 2020), his humanism, as well as his pioneering role in structuring Gabonese pediatric care, which are essential foundations of the current national health system.
This symbolic gesture illustrates the official recognition of the State for a man whose medical and political legacy continues to inspire present and future generations.
